Last week, attendees at the University of Hawaii's Rainbow Warrior Basketball Camp got a special surprise.  San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills made an unannounced visit to the camp. 

Mills was making a stop through Hawaii on his way home to his native Australia.  He also has a tie to UH with head coach Eran Ganot having previously served as an assistant at Saint Mary's during his college career. 

At the camp, Mills was able to spend time talking with the campers, taking photos and signing autographs.  Hawaii will have two more camps this summer, June 21-24 and August 1-4.  

Mills will be on an Olympic stage this summer, competing for Australia at the Rio Games.  When he competed for his country at the 2012 Olympics, he averaged a tournament-high 21.2 points per game. 

There is no question that Mills has become a vital role player for the Spurs.  In 2014, he had a playoff career-high 17 points in Game 5 of the NBA Finals as San Antonio closed out the Miami Heat for the title. 

Mills originally signed with the Spurs in 2011 after playing his first two NBA seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers.  The Blazers selected him in the second round of the 2009 Draft.
