This week, softball legend Jennie Finch is lending her time to raise money for breast cancer research. She is making a visit to Greensboro, North Carolina on Wednesday at Fleet Feet Sports.
Finch is working with the Mizuno initiative, Project Zero, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. She will appear at the Project Zero Launch Party, holding an autograph signing from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Fleet Feet Sports is also selling special merchandise and ten percent of their sales on Wednesday go towards the Cone Health Mammography Fund. There will also be wine, beer and finger foods available after the signing.
Finch is one of the most famous female athletes in the world. She starred in college, playing softball at the University of Arizona and setting a record with 51 straight wins.
Finch also helped the Wildcats win the 2001 Women's College World Series. She went on to be a key contributor for Team USA, winning an Olympic gold medal in 2004 and a silver medal in 2008.
Finch spent five seasons playing professionally with the Chicago Bandits. She has spent time in retirement as a broadcaster and remains a top ambassador for the sport of softball.
