Spurs Star Kawhi Leonard Imparts Life Lessons at Basketball Camp

It has been a banner summer for the San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard.  Leonard resigned with the Spurs for a reported five-year, $90 million deal and the franchise brought in reinforcements in the form of All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge.

Amid all the hoopla, Leonard found time last weekend to impart powerful life lessons at his youth basketball camp back home in Moreno Valley, California.  He made sure it was more about action on the court at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center.

90 boys and girls attended the camp to get some time with Leonard.  Each camper also got a t-shirt, groups photo, and lunch.

Leonard certainly made way for a big payday last season by winning the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award.  He also averaged a career-best 16.5 points per game and upped his output to over 20 points per game in the playoffs.

Valuable postseason experience was accrued during the previous two seasons as San Antonio made runs to the NBA Finals.  In 2014, Leonard did it all on the way to being named the third-youngest NBA Finals MVP ever.

Leonard was originally selected 15th overall out of San Diego State by the Spurs in the 2011 NBA Draft.  He is expected to star for the franchise for years to come as the old guard of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker phase out in San Antonio.
