As one of the most likeable St. Louis Cardinals, All-Star Matt Carpenter's youth camp is wildly popular. This year, the Schnucks Matt Carpenter Baseball ProCamp takes place on June 13th.
From 4:30-8 p.m., Carpenter will provide expert baseball instruction along with his camp coaches. The event is being held at Westminster Christian Academy in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Campers from grades 1-8 can attend for a $149 registration fee. In addition to the coaching, they will receive an autograph from Carpenter, team photo, and t-shirt.
Carpenter made back-to-back All-Star appearances in 2013 and 2014. He has been the Cardinals primary leadoff hitter since 2013 and has led the National League in doubles twice.
Also in 2013, Carpenter led the NL hits and runs scored. Following that 2013 season, he became the first St. Louis second baseman to ever win the Silver Slugger Award.
The Cardinals originally selected Carpenter in the 13th round of the 2009 MLB Draft. He played collegiately at Texas Christian, where he was a three-time All-Mountain West Conference pick.
