Jerome Bettis Gives Back with Other Steelers Greats at Children's Home Jubilee

Jerome Bettis led a contingent of other former Pittsburgh Steelers players who were giving back to the community last week. They all participated in the Children's Home of Pittsburgh and the Lemieux Family Center's Children's Home Holiday Jubilee.

Bettis was joined by ex-players James Harrison, Charlie Batch, Arthur Moats and Will Allen as well as current quarterback Josh Dobbs. They brought a busload of toys and interacted with the families in attendance on behalf of The Bus Stops Here Foundation and PITT VETS.

Those at the Jubilee also got to take part in holiday crafts, meet Santa, donate toys and eat snacks. After visiting the home, Harrison drove the bus and brought the players to three other non-profits throughout the day.

Bettis has remained a vital part of the community after his career that saw him rack up 13,664 yards, which ranks seventh in NFL history. He was a six-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro.

Bettis was originally drafted in the first round by the Los Angeles Rams and won the 1993 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. After a few down seasons, he won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award in 1996, his first year with the Steelers.

Bettis capped his career the right way, going out a champion with Pittsburgh in Super Bowl XL in his hometown of Detroit. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Steelers All-Time Team.

Bettis has always devoted his time to charity and was named the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2001. In retirement, he has remained visible as a broadcaster, product endorser and business owner.
