While Clint Irwin turned in a stellar three seasons in net for the cellar-dweller Colorado Rapids, he has an entirely new responsibility as the keeper for championship contender Toronto FC this year. Irwin's increased visibility was an added bonus for Uhlsport, who renewed their endorsement deal with him for the next two MLS seasons.
Irwin sports Uhlsport goalkeeper gloves. He will also appear in marketing campaigns for the company as part of the new deal.
Houston Dynamo keeper Joe Willis is also with Uhlsport. It should help the sportswear firm as they continue to build partnerships with goalkeepers and their coaches at all levels of the sport.
Irwin has played all 180 minutes for Toronto FC so far this season, allowing two goals and recording one shutout. Over the last three, years he has made 89 appearances for the Rapids and recorded 25 shutouts.
In 2015, Irwin was chosen to the MLS All-Star team. During his first campaign in Colorado in 2013, his ten shutouts tied a team record and he posted the most wins of any franchise keeper since 1998.
Irwin attended Elon University, where he was a four-time All-Southern Conference selection. He holds the career and single-season school records for clean sheets.
