Anytime Usain Bolt makes an appearance in Jamaica, it becomes front-page news. That was the story on Thursday when Bolt had a book signing at The Marketplace in St. Andrew.
The event was held at 1 p.m. at Tracks and Records. Bolt was signing copies of "Usain Bolt: Legend," a book that includes over 200 images that celebrate the icon's life.
It was specifically published to recognize his retirement from competitive racing. In the hourlong signing, Bolt made an effort to sign as many books as possible.
Bolt is an eight-time Olympic gold medalist, winning the 100 m, 200 m and 4x100 m relay at three consecutive Olympics. At the 2008 Games, he set world records in the 100 m and 200 m.
Bolt is also the most accomplished athlete in World Championship history with 11 medals. He was a six-time IAAF World Athlete of the Year and a two-time Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
Bolt has been the Jamaica Sportsman of the Year five times and the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year four times. He became the youngest person made a member of the Order of Jamaica in 2009.
