Theo Fleury was one of the most intimidating players during his NHL career. He will share some of the stories from his playing days when he keynotes the UNBC Timberwolves Legacy Breakfast on February 7th.
The fundraising event is being held at the Northern Sport Centre in Prince George, British Columbia. It benefits many UNBC student-athletes.
Fleury's presentation is titled, "Don't Quit Before the Miracle." The event begins at 7 a.m. and tickets are $85 for individuals and $650 for a table of eight.
Fleury spent 16 seasons in the NHL and 11 of them were spent with the Calgary Flames. He played over 1,000 league games and was known for his physical style.
One of Fleury's career highlights was winning the Stanley Cup with the Flames in his rookie season. He was on Team Canada for two Olympics and won the gold in 2002.
In 2009, Fleury wrote the book, "Playing With Fire," and admitted to being sexually abused by a youth hockey coach. He has since become an advocate for victims.
