U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team Coach Jill Ellis Gives Commencement Speech at Alma Mater

After leading the U.S. women's national soccer team to World Cup victory this past summer, head coach Jill Ellis cemented her legacy in the sport.  Ellis has been a popular get for speaking engagements since, but the opportunity she has this May might be the most significant.

She will be the commencement speaker at her alma mater, William & Mary, on May 14th.  Her address to the Class of 2016 graduates will be held at 10 a.m. at William & Mary Hall.

Graduates can request up to four tickets, but no other seats are available for purchase.  Ellis graduated from William & Mary in 1988 after playing soccer for four years.

Since, she has gone on to become one of the most significant figures in the women's game.  She has been the head coach of the U.S. national team since May 2014 and was named 2015 CONCACAF and FIFA World Women's Coach of the Year.

Additionally, Ellis has also had various stints the U.S.'s U-20 and U-21 teams.  Since 2010, she has been the Development Director of the United States Soccer Federation.

Ellis has also served as a head coach on the collegiate level at Illinois and UCLA.  She took the Bruins to eight Final Four trips.
