WNBA star Tamika Catchings helped the Indiana Chamber of Commerce celebrate local education and business. She spoke at a luncheon ceremony on February 9th in Indianapolis.
The event was part of National School Counselling Week. The chamber presented their inaugural School Counseling-Business Partnership of the Year award to Hobart High School and St. Mary Medical Center.
As a result of winning the award, one Hobart senior won a $1,000 scholarship. Catchings was certainly a popular personality to have at the luncheon.
Catchings is a legend in women's basketball and a ten-time WNBA All-Star. She is a 12-time All-WNBA selection and has been named league Defensive Player of the Year five times.
In 2011, Catchings was named WNBA Most Valuable Player. A year later, she led the Indiana Fever to their first WNBA championship and was named MVP of the series.
Catchings retired last year as the all-time leader in rebounds and steals. She was named to the WNBA's Top 20@20 list as well.
