Andy Pettitte Biography

Andy Pettitte is one of the great playoff pitchers in baseball history. Pettitte played 18 major league seasons, winning five World Series and making three All-Star teams. He has 19 postseason victories, the most all-time. Pettitte pitched the majority of his career with the New York Yankees and is known as a member of the “Core Four”, all players who came up through the Yankees system and contributed to their mid-1990s success. Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and Jorge Posada are the other three members. He ranks first in strikeouts and third in wins in Yankees history. No one won more games in the 2000s than Pettitte and he never had a losing season in his 18 pitched. Pettitte also played three seasons with the Houston Astros and helped them to their first World Series birth in 2005. He was a 22nd round pick of the Yankees in 1990 and a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
