Anna Kournikova is a former professional tennis player that caused quite a stir during her career. Kournikova was a highly regarded up and coming player and that coupled with her looks, made her an Internet sensation. She achieved her highest world ranking of eighth in 2000 and spent time as world number one in doubles. With Martina Hingis as her partner, Kournikova took home Australian Open doubles titles in 1999 and 2002. A series of injuries following some early success would end her pro career in 2003. Kournikova still competed in World TeamTennis for the rest of the decade and participates in exhibitions for charity. She remained one of the most searched athletes online even several years after her playing career and was a celebrity trainer on season 12 of The Biggest Loser. Kournikova has done a bevy of modeling work and had a minor role in the film Me, Myself & Irene. She has been in the U.S. since coming to train with Nick Bollettieri at age 10 and was awarded citizenship in 2010.
