Ariel Helwani Biography

Ariel Helwani is the face of journalism when it comes to covering mixed martial arts and the UFC. After graduating from Syracuse University's famed communications school in 2004, Helwani was committed to covering the sport he loved that was gaining in popularity. He got his start writing for MMA Fighting. Helwani gained popularity for his podcast, The MMA Hour. Other opportunities followed, including roles with Fox Sports 1's MMA programming and co-hosting role on SiriusXM. From 2018-21, Helwani covered the sport for ESPN, mostly reporting and commenting on UFC news after broadcast rights were acquired by the network. He currently is back with MMA Fighting and The MMA Hour as well as working for The Ringer and BT Sport. Helwani is a ten-time MMA Journalist of the Year.
