Barry Switzer Biography

As a legendary coach in both college and pro football, not many people can match the resume of Barry Switzer.  Switzer piloted the Oklahoma Sooners program for 16 year and coached Dallas Cowboys for four seasons.  He is one of three men to have won a national championship and a Super Bowl.  A winner of three national championships at Oklahoma, Switzer is credited as one of the gurus behind the wishbone offense.  His teams won 12 Big Eight Conference titles and went to 13 bowl games.  Switzer was known for recruiting the state of Texas hard and finished with a record of 9-5-2 against the rival Longhorns.  He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2002.  As an NFL head coach, Switzer was 40-24 and led the Cowboys to a win in Super Bowl XXX.  After a playing career at Arkansas, he got into coaching as an assistant at his alma mater and then as the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma.  Since he retired from the sidelines, he has held many positions in the broadcasting world.  Switzer also still lives in Norman, Oklahoma and has operated several businesses in the area.
