Brad Brownell Biography

Brad Brownell played his college basketball at DePauw University from 1988 to 1991.  After earning his degree from DePauw he signed on as an assistant at Evansville University in 1991 and served in that role for two seasons before heading to Indianapolis as an assistant from 1992 to 1994.  In 1994 he was hired as an assistant at UNC Wilmington.  Brownell served as an assistant at UNC Wilmington for eight seasons from 1994 to 2002 before being hired as the head coach in 2002.  During his first season he led his team to 24 wins and a Colonial Athletic Association championship, and would go on to lead his team to 25 wins and a second Colonial Athletic Association title in 2006.  After the 2006 season he was hired on at Wright State University and led his team to four consecutive 20-win seasons and a Horizon League tile in 2007.  Brownell has served as the head coach at Clemson since 2010 and led the Tigers to 82 wins during his first five seasons at the helm.
