Brock Holt Biography

Brock Holt is one of the most versatile players in baseball.  In his first full big league season in 2014, he played every position except pitcher and catcher.  That year, he hit .281 over 106 games and finished eighth in American League Rookie of the Year voting.  The following season, Holt became the first Boston Red Sox player to hit for the cycle since John Valentin in 1996.  He originally joined the Red Sox organization after being traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2012.  Holt debuted in the big leagues with the Pirates during the 2012 season.  Pittsburgh selected him out of Rice University in the ninth round of the 2009 MLB Draft.  Holt was a star for the Owls, hitting .348 with 12 homers and 43 RBI in his one season.  He was also named to the Rice All-Regional Team.  The Fort Worth, Texas native played his first two collegiate seasons at Navarro College.
