Cara Capuano Biography

Cara Capuano is a former sports anchor and play by play broadcaster for ESPN. Prior to becoming a sports anchor, Capuano attended the University of California San Diego where she graduated with a cell biology and biochemistry degree before attending graduate school to work on her doctorate at UCLA. After a year at UCLA, Capuano decided to leave and pursue her sportscasting dream. Capuano’s sportscasting career began when she worked at KCOP-TV and FSN Los Angeles where she was a sports assistant. In 1998, Capuano was the sports director at KCTZ where she was now on camera. At KCTZ, she spent most of her time as a play-by-play announcer, color analyst and sideline reporter for matches in football, basketball, and volleyball between Montana State University and the University of Montana. Capuano then spent a year as a sports anchor and reporter in Texas. It was not until 2000 that Capuano landed the position at ESPN. She spent most of her time at the anchor desk for ESPNEWS and SportsCenter. She also called play-by-play for Division I women’s basketball and softball.
