Chad Morris Biography

Chad Morris was one of the best offensive minds in college football for over a decade and is currently an assistant coach at Texas State. He had previously been the head coach at Arkansas and SMU. Prior to accepting the Mustangs job in 2015, Morris was the nation’s highest-paid assistant coach as the offensive coordinator at Clemson.  He oversaw some of the best years in Tigers history and developed Clemson legends like Tahj Boyd and Sammy Watkins.  Morris has had a rather quick climb up the coaching ranks, spending just one season in college football prior to landing at Clemson.  He was the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Tulsa in 2010.  Prior to that, Morris was a high school coach in Texas for 16 seasons, putting up a 169-38 record.  He left the prep ranks after back-to-back state titles with future NFL quarterback Garrett Gilbert at Lake Travis High School.
