Chris Couch Biography

Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Chris Couch stayed in state and accepted a golf scholarship to the University of Florida to play for coach Buddy Alexander. Couch quickly made an impact for the Gators, earning SEC Freshman of the Year honors in 1992 and helping the team win 3 straight SEC Championships as well as the NCAA Championship in 1993. Following graduation, Couch turned professional in 1995 where he initially struggled, failing to maintain his PGA Tour card. From 2001-2005, Couch found his groove on the Nationwide Tour (now Web.com Tour) where he won 5 events in that time frame. In 2006, Couch earned his PGA Tour card back and quickly showed why by winning the 2006 Zurich Classic of New Orleans with a 55-foot chip in to win it. Despite injuries and a sub-par 2009 season, Couch rebounded in 2010 and 2011 with 5 Top-10 finishes in the 2 seasons combined.
