Cliff Lee Biography

Southpaw Cliff Lee was a relatively underrated pitcher coming out of the University of Arkansas and didn’t really make an impact during his first few seasons in the MLB. Then, in 2008, Lee had a career making season with the Cleveland Indians saw him win the AL Comeback Player of the Year, AL Cy Young, and AL ERA leader (2.54). Lee had an 88% winning percentage which was good enough for 4th all time for pitchers starting at least 30 games. Lee was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies and he helped the team to the ’09 World Series where despite Lee’s 2-0 record in the series the Phillies still lost in six games. In 2010 Lee again made it to the World Series, this time with the Texas Rangers, after becoming the first person in history to pitch three postseason games with over 10 strikeouts in each start. Lee was traded back to the Phillies in 2011 and retired after the 2014 season, making four trips to the All Star Game in his career.
