Darrell Green Biography

Darrell Green can always be found on the short list of the greatest defensive backs to ever play in the NFL. Before beginning his professional career, Green was a two-sport All-American at Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M) for football and track. In football, he was a captain for the Aggies football team, an All-American, and the Lone Star Conference MVP with a senior season of 56 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 2 punt returns for TDs. Green was then selected in the First Round of the 1983 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins, whom he played with for all 20 seasons of his NFL career. The seven-time Pro Bowler went on to have one of the most dominant careers for a defensive back in NFL history, setting numerous NFL records along the way. He was a two-time Super Bowl Champion and has been named on lists such as the 70 Greatest Redskins as well as being named to the 1990s All-Decade Team. Green has been rewarded for his superior career by being inducted to both the College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame.
