David Shaw Biography

David Shaw was a wide receiver at Stanford University from1991 to 1994 and returned to his alma mater in 2007 as an assistant coach, eventually being named head coach in 2011.  After earning his degree from Stanford in 1994 he began his climb up the coaching ladder with Western Washington University as an assistant and defensive coach.  After two years at Western Washington he was hired to coach quarterbacks with the Philadelphia Eagles and remained in the NFL until 2005 as an assistant with the Eagles Raiders, and Ravens.  In 2006 he returned to the college game and coached wide receivers and quarterbacks at the University of San Diego.  After returning to Stanford in 2007 he served as the offensive coordinator for four seasons before taking over at the helm as head coach.  From 2011-13, he led the Cardinal to three consecutive Pac-12 North Regular Season Championships and three BCS Bowl wins.  During that time he was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2012.
