Dick Jauron Biography

Dick Jauron is an Illinois native and played seven seasons in the NFL for the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals from 1973 to 1980.  When his playing career came to an end he entered the coaching world.  As a rookie defensive backs coach with the Buffalo Bills in 1985 he proved himself to be a valuable asset to the franchise.  He’d go on to coach for the Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars as an assistant from 1986 to 1998 before earning his first head coaching job with the Chicago Bears in 1999.  In 2001 he earned AFC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Bears to a 13-3 record.  In 2004 he headed back to Detroit as the Lions defensive coordinator and briefly served as their interim head coach in in 2005 before heading to the Bills as their new head coach.  He remained in Buffalo until 2009, and served time as the Philadelphia Eagles Senior assistant and defensive backs coach in 2010 before ending his career with the Cleveland Browns in 2012 as their defensive coordinator.
