Doug Fister Biography

Doug Fister is part of the star-studded Washington Nationals pitching rotation.  Fister posted career-best numbers in his first season in Washington in 2014.  He went 16-6 with a 2.41 ERA.  Fister pitched for the Detroit Tigers for three seasons and made the postseason each time.  Following a 2011 midseason trade from the Seattle Mariners, he went 8-1 with a 1.79 ERA and was instrumental to the Tigers entering the postseason on the uptick.  Fister came up with the Mariners and pitched his first three seasons for the team.  Seattle originally selected him in the seventh round of the 2006 MLB Draft out of Fresno State.  Fister is a towering presence on the mound at 6’8” and is known as the quintessential ground ball pitcher.
