Dwight Stephenson Biography

Dwight Stephenson is a retired NFL center who played nine seasons in the league with the Miami Dolphins. Prior to his time in the NFL, Stephenson played at the University of Alabama, where he was an All American and helped the Tide win two National Championships. Following his graduation, Stephenson was selected in the second round of the 1980 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins, where he would serve as a backup until earning a starting job in 1983. For the next five seasons, Stephenson would emerge into one of the top centers in the history of the NFL, as he and his fellow offensive lineman set multiple NFL records. Stephenson was named to the Pro Bowl five times over his career, and helped the Dolphins reach two Super Bowls. In 1985, Stephenson was given the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, and he retired in 1987 after starting 87 games. 11 years later, Stephenson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, solidifying him as one of the top centers in league history.
