Elena Delle Donne Biography

Elena Delle Donne received national recognition as a high schooler as she led her team to 3 straight high school state championships scoring over 2,000 career points and set a national high school record by making 80 consecutive free throws. As the #1 recruit in the nation, Delle Donne originally accepted a scholarship to play for the UCONN Huskies but before the year started dropped out and went to the University of Delaware due to personal reasons. Delle Donne joined the Blue Hens volleyball team her freshman year but finally decided to play basketball to everyone’s relief. In her junior season Delle Donne helped the USA Basketball Team win the gold medal World University Games in China. Delle Donne fought Lyme Disease for much of her college career but still managed to be selected 2nd overall in the 2013 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky. In her 2 years in the WNBA, Delle Donne has been selected to both All-Star Games and won the Rookie of the Year honors in 2013.
