Fred Taylor Biography

Fred Taylor is a retired NFL running back who played 13 seasons in the league with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New England Patriots. Prior to his time in the NFL, Taylor was a standout running back at the University of Florida, helping the Gators win three straight SEC Championships and their first national championship in 1996. Taylor was first team All-SEC in 1997 as well as a third team All American, making him one of the best running backs in UF history. Following his graduation, Taylor was selected ninth overall in the 1998 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. In his 11 seasons as a Jaguar, Taylor became one of the league’s top rushers, earning one Pro Bowl bid and rushing for over 10,000 yards. In 2009, Taylor chose to sign with the New England Patriots, playing two seasons with the team until retiring as a Jaguar following the 2010 season. Over his career, Taylor rushed for over 11,500 yards and 66 touchdowns, and is a likely candidate for the Pro Football Hall of Fame soon.
