George Foster Biography

George Foster is a former professional left fielder who played in MLB. After graduating from Leuzinger High School, the San Francisco Giants selected Foster in the third round of the 1968 MLB Draft. Foster spent two seasons with the Giants’ farm system before he was called up to the Giants on September 10, 1969. Foster made the opening day roster in 1971 as the fourth outfielder, but he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds shortly after the season started. Upon his arrival at Cincinnati, Foster was immediately placed into the starting lineup. Foster made an appearance in game one and five of the 1972 National League Championship Series. While with the Reds, Foster became a key piece of the Red’s Big Red Machine that won the 1975 and 1976 World Series. Foster also played for the New York Mets and Chicago White Sox. In his career, Foster was a 5x All-Star, 2x World Series Champion, 2x NL home run champion, 3x NL RBI champion, NL MVP, Silver Slugger Award, and MLB All-Star Game MVP.
