Greg Vaughn Biography

Greg Vaughn was the Milwaukee Brewers 1st round pick in the 1986 Major League Baseball Draft. In college, he starred at the University of Miami and would go on to become a major league All-Star and MVP candidate. In 1993 he earned his first AllStar appearance, hitting 30 home runs and driving in 97 runs. He’d follow that up with a career year in 1996, belting 41 home runs and driving in 117 runs with both the Brewers and San Diego Padres. His best year came in 1998 when he posted career highs with 50 home runs, 119 RBI and 112 runs scored in route to winning a Silver Slugger Award and finishing fourth in the MVP voting. He finished fourth the following year as well after hitting 45 home runs and posting another 100 RBI and 100 runs scored season. In 2001 he earned his last All-Star selection with the Tampa Bay Rays before hanging up his cleats in 2003 with the Colorado Rockies. In retirement, he has become an activist and speaker helping find a cure for type 1 diabetes.
