Gregg Marshall Biography

Former Wichita State University head basketball coach Gregg Marshall took over a dismal Shockers squad in 2007 and has since led them to unprecedented success. After only winning 11 games in his first year and posting losing conference records in each of his first two seasons it all came together in 2009-10 when his team won 25 games and posted a 12-6 conference record. From that point on it’s been nothing but wins. In 2012 the Shockers won their first Missouri Valley Conference championship and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance under Marshall. They followed that up with a 30 win season in 2012-13 and an incredible 35-1 record in 2013-14 to go along with an undefeated 18-0 mark in MVC play. For his leadership at Wichita State in 2014, he was named the Naismith National Coach of the Year and AP Coach of the Year, adding to his collection of four Big South Coach of the Year and three Missouri Valley Coach of the Year awards.
