Gus Malzahn Biography

Gus Malzahn is the head football coach at UCF. He made his name by taking over the Auburn football program in 2013, leading them on an unbelievable march to the BCS National Championship game in his first season. Considering the Tigers were not even ranked heading into the 2013 season, this was an incredible turn around. Malzahn led the Tigers to a 12-2 overall record and an SEC Championship by knocking off Georgia and Alabama in epic last second wins. His performance in 2013 earned him National Coach of the Year honors. Malzahn began his coaching career at the high school level and won four state championships in Arkansas from 1992 to 2005 before being tapped to coach at his alma mater, the University of Arkansas in 2006. In 2007 he headed to Tulsa and then served as the offensive coordinator at Auburn from 2009 to 2011 before landing his first head-coaching job at Arkansas State in 2012.
