Hannah Teter Biography

Hannah Teter is a professional snowboarder who competes for the United States in various international events. Born into a snowboarding family, Teter started competing at just eight years old, and by 15, she was the World Junior Halfpipe champion. Teter’s first professional medal came in 2003 at the Winter XGames, where she won the gold medal in the superpipe category. Between 2002 and 2012, Teter competed in multiple events, winning nine medals, including two gold, one silver, and six bronze. Teter made her Olympic debut in the 2006 Turin Olympics, winning the gold medal over United States teammate and friend Gretchen Blieler. This medal earned Teter the honor of USOC SportsWoman of the Year, along with and ESPY Award for Best Action Sports Female. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Teter had another strong performance in the halfpipe category, and she finished with a silver medal. Although she still competes, Teter has shifted her focus to charity work, teaming with various events to help support struggling African villages as well as sponsoring the Special Olympics.
