Heath Bell Biography

Heath Bell is a former MLB relief pitcher who is notorious for his time with the San Diego Padres. Prior to the MLB, Bell attended Santiago Canyon College, where he was an All-American pitcher in 1997. In 1998, Bell signed as a free agent with the New York Mets, but was not able to crack the MLB roster in his two seasons with the team. Bell was then traded to the San Diego Padres, where he developed into one of the game’s best closers, winning multiple awards and honors for his relief duty. Bell was a three time All-Star and was named the MLB’s best reliever in 2009 and 2010. After four seasons with the Padres, Bell was a coveted free agent, and eventually signed with the Miami Marlins during the 2011 offseason.
