Jack Clark Biography

Jack Clark, nicknamed “Jack the Ripper”, is a retired professional baseball player in the MLB. Although debuting with the San Francisco Giants in 1975, Clark concluded his almost 20-year career with the Boston Red Sox in 1992. In between, he spent time with the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees and San Diego Padres. Clark was born in 1955 in Pennsylvania and grew up to be a very diverse baseball player. He was a right fielder, first baseman, and designated hitter in the MLB. In addition, he was a four-time All-Star and a two-time Silver Slugger Award winner. He hit 340 home runs throughout his career with a batting average of .267. As a right-handed hitter, Clark was one of the most notable of his time. He obtained an impressive 1,180 RBI’s in 1,994 games. Since retirement, Clark managed the River City Rascals and served as the Los Angeles Dodgers hitting coach for a short period of time. He also managed the Springfield Sliders and spent some time as a talk radio show host, co-hosting “The King and the Ripper” out of St. Louis. Clark is recognized for his athletic accomplishments on the list of major league baseball players with 1,000 runs and 1,000 runs batted in.
