Jamie Moyer Biography

Jamie Moyer pitched for 25 years in the major leagues with eight different teams. He is best known for his 11 years with the Seattle Mariners from 1996 to 2006 and five seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies from 2006 to 2010. In 1986 Moyer broke into the big leagues with the Chicago Cubs at age 23 and posted a 7-4 record as a rookie. Over the next 24 years he racked up 269 wins, with a career best 21 wins in 2003, earning him an American League All-Star selection. During his 11 seasons with the Seattle Mariners he was one of the most consistent winners in the big leagues, averaging over 15 wins per season and winning 20 or more games twice. In 2008 he reached the pinnacle of baseball achievement when he helped lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a World Series title with a 16-7 record a 3.71 ERA in 33 starts. For his off the field work in the community he was honored with the 2003 Lou Gehrig Award, Roberto Clemente Award and Hutch Award, and was also awarded the Branch Rickey Award in 2004. To date, Moyer is one of only 29 players to have played in major league games in four different decades.
