Jeff Hornacek Biography

Jeff Hornacek is a former professional basketball player who also served as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks. He was born in Illinois in the early 1960’s and went on to attend Iowa State University as a walk-on for the basketball team. After four years of collegiate basketball, Hornacek was selected in the second round of the ’86 draft by the Suns. He played a total of fourteen years in the NBA, splitting his time between the Suns, Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz. Hornacek’s number 14 jersey was retired by both the Utah Jazz and his alma mater, Iowa State. After retiring from the sport to spend more time with his family in 2000, he returned to the sport eleven years later to become an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz.
