Jermaine Dye Biography

Jermaine Dye enjoyed a successful 14-year major league career with the Atlanta Braves, Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox from 1996 to 2009. Dye joined the Braves as a 17th round pick in 1993 out of Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, California. Over the next three seasons he established himself as one of top minor league prospects in all of baseball and earned a call-up to the big leagues in 1996. He’d go on to earn two All-Star selections in 2000 and 2006, a Gold Glove Award in 2000 and a Silver Slugger Award in 2006. In 2005 he earned World Series MVP honors while leading the Chicago White Sox to a championship in his first season with the team. His best season came in 2000 when he hit .321 with 33 homeruns, 41 doubles, 118 RBI and 107 runs scored. Dye retired in 2009 with a solid .274 career batting average, 325 homeruns and 1,072 RBI in 1,763 career games.
