Jim Nantz Biography

There are not many sports broadcasters more respected or well-known than Jim Nantz.  Nantz has been with CBS Sports since 1985 and has been the network’s lead NFL voice since 2004.  He has called the Final Four since 1991 and been CBS’s anchor for their coverage of The Masters since 1989.  Only Brent Musburger and Nantz have called a Super Bowl, a men’s college basketball title game, and hosted the Masters.  Nantz is a three-time Emmy winner in the Outstanding Sports Personality, Play by Play category.  He received the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award from the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Curt Gowdy Media Award from the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002.  Nantz teams with Phil Simms to call both Thursday Night Football and a weekly Sunday game, making them the most-worked broadcast duo throughout the course of an NFL season.  He attended the University of Houston and played golf for the Cougars.  His professional broadcasting career started at KSL-TV in Salt Lake City, Utah.
