Joe Klecko Biography

Joe Klecko played 11 seasons in the NFL with the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts and was a member of the famed New York Jets’ “New York Stock Exchange”. Klecko joined the Colts after a stellar career at Temple University in which he earned consecutive All-American honors in 1975 and 1976 and won two NCAA club boxing titles in the heavyweight division. For his incredible career at Temple he was inducted into the Temple University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1987. In 1977 he was selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft by the New York Jets and went on to earn four Pro Bowl selections and two NFL All-Pro nods while also being named the AFC, PFWA and NEA NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1981. Klecko retired with the Indianapolis Colts in 1988, and eventually earned a spot in the New York Jets Ring of Honor. He was also honored by having his legendary No. 73 jersey retired by the Jets Franchise. In 2010 SportsNet New York announced that Klecko would be joining their broadcast team as an analyst on the New York Jets post game show.
