Joey Porter Biography

During his time in the NFL, Joey Porter was one of the most feared defenders. He played 13 seasons in the league, eight of them wiht the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also played for the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals. The Steelers originally drafted Porter in the second round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He was a four-time Pro Bowler during his career. In 2002, Porter was named a first-team All-Pro and he also picked up three second-team All-Pro selections. He led the AFC in sacks during the 2008 season. Porter became a Super Bowl champion with Pittsburgh in 2005. He officially retired in 2012 and went into the coaching ranks. Porter began his coaching career as a defensive assistant at Colorado State in 2013. He joined the Steelers in the same capacity the following year before becoming linebackers coach in 2015.
