John Salley Biography

John Salley played for the Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers during his 15-year NBA career, winning two championships with the Detroit Pistons in 1989 and 1990, one with the Chicago Bulls in 1996, and finishing out his career with a championship as a Los Angeles Lakers in 2000. Since his retirement in 2000 he has appeared in several hit movies, worked in television and radio, and he owns his own production company. Some of his major movie roles include appearances in Bad Boys and Bad Boys II and Eddie. On television he is best known as the co-host of The Best Damn Sports Show Period and as an analyst on NBC’s NBA Showtime. A long time humanitarian, Salley is also actively involved with OperationSmile, PETA, and the fight against diabetes. Prior to heading to the NBA he starred at Georgia Tech University, and has since had his legendary No. 22 jersey retired by his alma mater.
