Jon Miller Biography

Jon Miller is one of the best baseball broadcasters of his time. Currently, he serves as the play-by-play man for the San Francisco Giants and previously served as a baseball announcer at ESPN from 1990 to 2010.

Miller got his start in sports broadcasting after graduating from high school in San Francisco in 1969. During the 1970’s he was a broadcaster for the California Golden Seals in the NHL, the San Francisco Dons and Pacific Tigers men’s college basketball teams, Golden States Warriors in the NBA and San Jose Earthquakes in the North American Soccer League. In 1976 he joined the CBS Sports team and did play-by-play for the Washington Diplomats in the North American Soccer League while also announcing the Soccer Game of the Week.

In the late 1970’s he served as a play-by-play man with the Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers, and Boston Red Sox before joining the Baltimore Orioles broadcast team in the 1980’s. From 1990 to 2010 Miller called some of the most historic events and games in MLB history. For his contributions to the game of baseball from the broadcast booth he received the Ford C. Frick Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010.
