Jonathan Byrd Biography

Jonathan Byrd grew up in Anderson, South Carolina and played golf for his homestate Clemson Tigers. During his time at Clemson he became the first ever four-time All-ACC selection in school history and earned First-Team All-American honors in 1999. That same year he represented the United States on the Walker Cup team. Upon earning his degree from Clemson in 2000 he turned pro and began competing on the Web.com Tour and finished 8th on the money list during his first season. In 2002 he joined the PGA Tour and earned Rookie of the Year honors after winning the Buick Challenge. The following year he placed 8th at the Masters Tournament and 15th at the U.S. Open on his way to capturing the 2004 B.C. Open and 2007 John Deere Classic. In 2008 he had a huge year, posting two-top 10’s and topping the $1 million mark in earnings for the first time. Since that time he’s captured both the 2010 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and the 2011 Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Throughout his career he has proved to be one of the most consistent finishers on the PGA Tour and continues to be a top competitor on the course each time he tees off.
