Josh Pastner Biography

Josh Pastner was a point guard on the Arizona Wildcats 1997 NCAA National Championship team and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees while still playing at Arizona. During his final season in 2000, he began his doctoral degree and then became a graduate assistant at Arizona to finish up his Ph.D. In 2002 he was hired on as a full-time assistant at Arizona and served in that position until being hired as an assistant at the University of Memphis in 2008. 

After just two seasons at Memphis as an assistant he was hired as the Tigers new head coach. During his first year, he had one of the top-ranked recruiting classes in the nation and won 24 games. Overall, he won two Conference USA regular season titles and went to four consecutive NCAA Tournaments. After capturing C-USA Coach of the Year honors and leading Memphis to a 31-5 record, including an undefeated conference record, Paster was named the head coach at Georgia Tech. In his first year, he was named ACC Coach of the Year and took the Yellow Jackets to the finals of the NIT. In seven seasons, Pastner made one trip to the NCAA Tournament after winning the ACC Tournament in 2021.
