Justin Leonard Biography

Justin Leonard is the pride of Dallas, Texas, and played his prep golf at Lake Highlands High School. In 1990 he headed off to the University of Texas and won an individual NCAA Championship in 1994. He also won the 1992 U.S. Amateur title, earned All-American honors in 1993 and 1994, and won the Haskins Award in 1994 as the most outstanding collegiate player in the country. After the 1994 season immediately joined the PGA Tour, and won his first title in 1996 at Buick Open. Three years later he won the 1997 Open Championship, and has since finished as the runner-up in the 1999 Open Championship and 2004 PGA Championship. During his 20-year PGA Tour career he has won 12 titles, finished 7th at the 1997 Masters Tournament, and 12th at the 2002 U.S. Open. His other honors include leading Team USA to wins a the Presidents Cup in 1996, 2005 and 2009, Ryder Cup in 1999 and 2008, and Walker Cup in 1993.
