Kevin Youkilis Biography

During his college days, Kevin Youkilis broke records at the University of Cincinnati, belting homeruns 56 career homeruns, walking 206 times and posting a career average of .366. In 2001 the Red Sox selected him in the 8th round of the MLB Draft and he began his quick ascent up the minor league ladder. In 2004 he made his MLB debut with the Red Sox and quickly became one of their most popular players, helping them to their first World Series title since 1918 in 2004 as a rookie. He’d go on to lead the Red Sox to another World Series championship in 2007 and earn a Gold Glove that season. From 2004 to 2012 he earned three All-Star selections and the Hank Aaron Award in 2008 as the American League’s top hitter. In 2012 “Youk”, as he is known by Red Sox faithful, was signed by the Chicago White Sox. He’d go on to play his last year in 2013 with the New York Yankees.
