Kirk Herbstreit Biography

Kirk Herbstreit is the face of ESPN’s College GameDay program and one of the most respected voices in all of college football. Herbstreit gained his extensive knowledge of the game while playing at Ohio State University in college, where he threw for 2,437 career passing yards and served as a co-captain for the Buckeyes during his senior year. Herbstreit graduated from Ohio State in 1993 with a degree in Business Administration and got his start in broadcasting with ESPN. Eventually he became a member of the popular College GameDay broadcast and it was all down hill from there. In 1997 he was nominated for the Sports Emmy Award as TV’s top studio analyst and began writing a weekly-in-season column for The Sporting News. Since that time he has been a household name, traveling the country with the GameDay team to broadcast at the week’s biggest college football game. He also makes appearances on ABC Sports to provide analysis and color commentary and is a frequent visitor on several of ESPN’s most popular shows.
