Larry Beil Biography

Larry Beil is an American sportscaster who was an anchor on SportsCenter from 1996 to 1998. Beil attended the University of Hawaii and introduced a new catch phrase: “Aloha means goodbye.” Beil also appeared in a This is SportsCenter ad where he was introduced by ring announcer Michael Buffer as if he was about to compete in a boxing match. While in college, Beil worked on the student newspaper and he was on the campus radio station. Prior to his ESPN career, Beil was a sports anchor and reporter at KTVU and KGMB. Currently Beil is the sports director at KGO-TV, the ABC O&O in San Francisco. Beil is also a sports columnist for Yahoo! And he hosts a Yahoo! Webcast with Joe Nash called SportsStream. In 2001, Beil returned to the Bay Area to work for ACB7 News. When Beil is not on camera, he is either working out or watching sports.
