Lawrence Taylor Biography

Lawrence Taylor is a former professional linebacker of the New York Giants. Taylor attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a team captain. Taylor was recognized as a consensus first-team All-American and the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in 1980. The New York Giants selected Taylor as the second overall pick during the 1981 NFL Draft. Taylor made his NFL debut as a Giant on September 6, 1981 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Taylor had one of the most successful seasons by a defensive player in the history of the NFL in 1986. Taylor helped the Giants defeat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI and he helped the Giants defeat the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXV. Taylor retired after 13 years with the Giants. He is considered to be one of the greatest players in history of football and he has been ranked as the greatest defensive player in league history.
