Layshia Clarendon Biography

Layshia Clarendon plays for the Minnesota Lynx of the Women's National Basketball Association and has made history as the first transgender player in WNBA history. They played college basketball at the University of California, Berkeley. The 2012–2013 season saw Clarendon become a team leader and receive national recognition for their abilities, culminating in their place as a finalist for the Senior Class Award. For the 2012–2013 regular season, the Clarendon-led Bears compiled earned the 2nd seed in the NCAA tournament and made the team’s first Final Four appearance. Clarendon was selected 9th overall in the 2013 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever. They have also played for the Atlanta Dream, Connecticut Sun, and New York Liberty.
